It seems like we are always running and going as fast as we possibly can - only to find out that life still moves faster than us. But we are happier than we ever have been. The saying that money can't by happiness is true. I do believe that it is one hell of a down payment though. We just moved into a house that is about 500 yards down the street from our last house. We were so glad that we found a place that was in our same ward!! This ward is awesome - so down to earth and chill. We have made some instant life long friends here which has made life that much better.
As far as what has happened since our first and only post - the boys are already done with the first quarter of school and they are both getting very good grades. That has been quite a challenge for them after missing almost 2 weeks for the elk hunt. Seth drew a bull tag on the Panguitch Lake area for the muzzleloader hunt. This is a very coveted tag (pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime tag) so we were going to take as long as we needed to make sure and get a big one. I took 5 days of work off and somehow managed to get my mandatory 30 hours in for the first week. Seth took of 7 full days of school and work, Bronzen took off 4 days, and Meree and Porter had the house to themselves for a few days. I'll go into more details when I do "The Elk Hunt" post this weekend.
Meree as always is doing all that she can, which is pretty much everything, to keep us on the right track and keep us happy. She doesn't know how to stop serving - I wish sometimes that she would think of herself more - but it just doesn't happen very often.
The Fishers and Belnaps are our new best friends and we hang out with them a lot. It is crazy how much we have in common and how much we love to be together. They are such good friends and real genuine people. Fish is one of the funniest people that I have ever met. It is non-stop comedy when we all get together especially when Belnap is there. Their son Tyson is Bronzen's new best bud. They do everything together - it has been perfect for both of them, Tyson keeps saying how he finally has the brother that he has always wanted and Bronzen has still been trying to fit in - in a new neighborhood. Their two girls are on the ball - and they love to keep Porter entertained. Porter loves going to there house and having so many new toys to play with. We met Fishers at church. He is a landscaper - one day he asked me what I did for work and I told him that I do concrete. His eyes lit up and he asked me if I could pour a pad for a basketball court at one of his jobs in Pine Valley. I gave him a bid and it was a little higher than the first one he got, but he decided to let me do it anyway. Well the first pour didn't exactly go the best. The wind picked up just after we laid it down and we worked our tails off to get a finish on it. When it was all said and done - it definately wasn't the finest job we've ever done - in fact probably the worst one. We went back up and patched a couple of spots and made it look decent. Fish was so good to us about it - he conviced the owner to do a 44' driveway as well. The driveway turned out great - he could've very easily got somebody else to do the driveway - but he trusted us that we would make it right. That job was such a huge blessing financially but more importantly we were able to become friends with this great family.
Meree just got called into the nursery at church and I'm sure she'll have plenty to say when she gets a chance. I am in the priests quorum which is right where I want to be. I love it in there - we have some good kids in the ward. Fish and Belnap are also both in the young men's so we get another excuse to hang out on wednesday nights.
Seth is busy with AP classes, working at Conrad Car Wash and hanging out with his buddies and his new fling Tiffany. They went to Homecoming a couple of weeks ago. Meree met her on Tuesday - but I still have not officially met her. Her birthday was last week and Seth wanted to do something funny. We thought and thought and finally came up with me dressing up like Matt Foley and going into their seminary class to give her a motivational speech. Unfortunately for me, Meree got it all on video and I'm sure she'll be posting for your viewing pleasure. We were going to try to keep it a secret and when she came to the house Matt Foley was going to answer the door. But one of the kids in the ward was in the class and ended up spillin' the beans. WTH - John??? Seth has been asked to Sadies twice and is trying to decide if he is going to be "out of town" or not that weekend.
That's all for now - but hopefully we can get with the program and post more often.
